Generally about search in Responza

Information - EN

We use an open source search engine named SOLR.
SOLR is an internationally acknowledged search engine used by Instagram, Ebay, Bloomberg, and Netflix, to name a few.
We chose this search engine as it is particularly good for searching in a lot of text. This means that you search in the entire body of text of each article when searching in Responza.

Priority of article elements

We configure the parameters in the search algorithm that follow the prioritization

  1. Title
  2. Search word
  3. Summary
  4. Body text

Text analysis

The search engine conducts a text analysis which

  • filters out stop words, e.g. "and", "or", "a", "the", "this"
  • searches for the stem of the word, e.g. if you search for "libraries", the algorithm also searches for "library"
  • tries to identify which words a compound word consists of. Compound words can be problematic, for example if it is a technical term that does not exist in the official dictionary. If you come across this problem, please contact support@spitzeco.dk
